Therapy Rates and Insurance
Therapy is an investment in yourself, and I believe you deserve to know what that investment looks like before you begin.

Oak and Ivy Counseling is a self-pay therapy practice, which means you pay directly for your sessions rather than using your insurance benefits at the time of service.

My goal is to keep the process simple, transparent, and straightforward so you can focus on the work that brought you here.

Individual Therapy Session Rate
$150 per 50 min session
Your session fee is due at the time of your appointment.

This rate applies to individual therapy sessions with Oak and Ivy Counseling.
Why Self Pay?

Choosing a self-pay therapist means you can receive care without submitting your therapy sessions through your insurance plan.

For many clients, this offers greater privacy because you do not have to provide a mental health diagnosis for your medical records or share therapy information with your insurance company. It also gives us more flexibility in creating a treatment plan based on your goals, needs, and preferences, rather than what an insurance company considers medically necessary or is willing to authorize.

Without insurance restrictions, we can choose from a wider range of therapeutic approaches and strategies, adjust the pace of therapy, and focus on the support that feels most helpful to you.

Self-pay allows us to focus our work on your goals, your needs, and the changes you want to make in your life.

If you have out-of-network benefits, you may still be able to receive reimbursement from your insurance company.
Using Out-of-Network
Benefits
Oak and Ivy Counseling is an out-of-network provider.

If your health insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for a portion of your therapy sessions.

The full $150 session fee is due at the time of your appointment. I can provide you with a Superbill, which is a detailed receipt containing the information you may need to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Because every insurance plan is different, I recommend contacting your insurance company before beginning therapy to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company
If you're considering using your out-of-network benefits, your insurance company can tell you what your specific plan covers.

You may want to ask:
-
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
-
What is my out-of-network deductible?
-
Has my deductible been met?
-
What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed after my deductible?
-
Is there a limit on the number of therapy sessions covered?
-
Do I need a referral or preauthorization?
-
How do I submit a Superbill for reimbursement?
-
How long does reimbursement typically take?
I recommend asking specifically about outpatient mental health therapy with an out-of-network Licensed Professional Counselor so you receive the most accurate information for your plan.
Good Faith Estimate
Because Oak and Ivy Counseling is a self-pay practice, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for your care under the federal No Surprises Act.

A Good Faith Estimate provides an estimate of expected charges for scheduled health care services. It is not a bill.

What's included in the Good Faith Estimate?
Your Good Faith Estimate will outline the expected cost of your scheduled therapy services.

For ongoing therapy, the estimate may reflect the services that are reasonably expected to be provided during the estimated period of care.

Because therapy is individualized and your needs may change over time, a Good Faith Estimate is an estimate of expected charges, not a guarantee of the total cost of treatment. Services that are not reasonably anticipated at the time the estimate is prepared may not be included.

If your care or expected frequency of sessions changes, you can request an updated estimate.
I Want Therapy to Feel Straightforward
Talking about the cost of therapy shouldn't feel awkward.
Before we begin, you'll know what my session rate is, how payment works, and what to expect if you'd like to explore out-of-network reimbursement.
My hope is that you can spend less time worrying about the logistics and more time focusing on what brought you to therapy in the first place.
You don't need to know exactly what you need before reaching out.
We can start with a conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do You Take Insurance?
Oak and Ivy Counseling is a self-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. I am an out-of-network provider, so you may be able to submit a Superbill to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits.
What is a Superbill?
A Superbill is a detailed receipt for your therapy services that contains information you may need when submitting an out-of-network claim to your insurance company. Oak and Ivy Counseling can provide Superbills for clients who choose to seek reimbursement.

Your insurance company determines whether you are eligible for reimbursement and how much it may reimburse.
Will My Insurance Reimburse Me?
It depends on your individual insurance plan. Some plans include out-of-network mental health benefits and others do not.
Because benefits vary, I recommend contacting your insurance company before beginning therapy to confirm your coverage, deductible, reimbursement rate, and any authorization requirements.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
A Good Faith Estimate is a written estimate of expected charges for health care services when you're uninsured or choosing not to use insurance.
Can I Request a Good Faith Estimate Before Starting Counseling?
Yes. You can request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services. If you're considering ongoing therapy, we can discuss the anticipated frequency of sessions and the estimate can reflect the services reasonably expected at that time.
What If I Can't Afford $150 a session?
If the session rate feels like a concern, I encourage you to bring that up during your consultation. We can talk about your options and determine whether Oak and Ivy Counseling is the right fit for your needs and circumstances.
